Campsite Testimonials
We had a lovely stay on the campsite over the Bank Holiday weekend. Location was beautiful, directions to get there were really helpful, particularly with a 7m motorhome and which lanes are particularly narrow, etc. Arrived with no issues, topped up the water and parked up on our pitch.
Site is well maintained, clean and tidy and the views are stunning. Vicki came over and introduced herself and was very friendly and chatty.
We walked on both days from the site – towards Bolton-by-Bowland one day and then towards Slaidburn the following day. Lanes are quiet and the villages lovely – good pub and teashops for food/drinks.
It was all so peaceful and relaxing, we’ll no doubt be back for another weekend in the future.
Thank you for our lovely stay on your peaceful caravan site. Our pitch was situated in a beautiful location overlooking the highland cows. We enjoyed our daily visits from the friendly hen, duck and her ducklings! We will definitely be revisiting in the future.
We spent a week at the Acre Hill caravan/motorhome site a week ago. Vicki & Phil gave us a very warm welcome and what a lovely site. The views are beautiful and the site is very well situated for walking both at lower and higher level in Bowland. The site is very well maintained and Vicki was keen to ensure that we had a good stay. Highly recommended.
Just spent a wonderful four nights away in our motorhome at Acre Hill, what a beautiful peaceful site with fantastic scenery and great walks from the doorstep. Vicky and Phil are very welcoming hosts and the fresh eggs a great bonus to the stay. Looking forward to returning. Thank you,
Carolyn and Stewart
We’ve just had a four night stay in our caravan over the Easter weekend. Vicki had contacted us the week before to warn us that the site was particularly wet, however on arrival we found that there was sufficient hard standing for the caravan, awning and car, with plenty of room for manoeuvring.
The site is very quiet and peaceful and is ideally suited for easy access to the local area. Vicki welcomed us and was available for any queries. The fresh eggs are marvellous!

Acre Hill is a little gem, located in a very peaceful area, with beautiful views. Being on a working farm, its a treat to see the very friendly hens and ducks wandering round the site every day and you are able to buy the eggs for breakfast! We loved it here on the CL and had a very friendly welcome from Vicki on arrival. We will certainly be back!
- We have just had a 2 week stay at this lovely caravan site in the forest of bowland .The scenery is stunning . There are duck eggs and hen eggs for sale . Vicki is very friendly and very helpful . It is a very relaxing caravan site We hope to visit again soon Keith and kath
We’ve just got back from a week at Acre Hill and we will definitely be going back! The most relaxing week we’ve had for quite a while! 😊 Such a very peaceful site and Vicki is so friendly we felt very welcome. The free range hens were very entertaining and the fresh eggs every day were delicious, we brought some back home with us too, you have to try the duck eggs! 😋 🥚 Our dog was intrigued by the hens and ducks but was happy to watch them, he even shared his water bowl 😂🐓 A great place if you want to switch off and do nothing! Thank you Vicki, we will be back!
A truly stunning CL From the minute you arrive you feel the peace and tranquility of the place. The views across the countryside are amazing and the only man mad noise is the occasional farmer going about his day. We have had wonderful chats with the chickens as they peck their way through the site. The site is very well maintained with all the facilities you would expect at a CL. This place has been added to my shortlist of favourites and we will be regular visitors.
We stayed 2 nights at Acre Hill. The views from the site are stunning and can be seen from all the pitches. It is a wonderful place to hide from the rest of the world and relax. 2 friendly cats to say hello to. Chickens and ducks to watch as they potter about in the next field. Free-range eggs to buy. No WC/shower, but electric hookup near all pitches and one water tap at the corner of the site. Therefore it had everything we needed. Space near tap for a motorhome to park so you can refill easily. All pitches hard standing, Some pitches on a slight slope so leveling blocks needed. The only down side is it is in the middle of no-where so you need to hike, cycle or drive to nearby villages etc….. (this is why I have only given it a 4 for local places of interest), however the plus side is that it is in the middle of no-where so it is quiet, peaceful and relaxing. It is a wonderful part of the world to visit with the surrounding country side nothing more than outstanding. Who needs to go to the lakes when a place like this is nearer and less populated?!
We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely little CL for two nights in June whilst travelling. The site is very pretty with flowers arranged in pots and well kept. The surrounding views are amazing. We had a very warm welcome from Vicky making sure we was happy and letting us know about the eggs which are available (chicken & duck). All pitches have hard standing with EHU the water and waste disposal are close by. Would definitely recommend and look forward to staying for longer next time.
A level, well kept site with hard standings and great views, in a lovely part of the country. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. It’s part of a working farm so there is a bit of noise from farm machinery during working hours otherwise it is extremely peaceful. We stayed for five nights and thoroughly ourselves.
We’ve just spent 4 nights at this little gem of a CL. The lane accessing the site is somewhat narrow but easily manageable with care. Absolutely amazing views from your caravan. This is an unbelievably beautiful area of our country. Vicki (the owner) is friendly and helpful. As this is a working farm there are free range chickens and ducks running around. The benefit of this is that the eggs are available to purchase at a reasonable price. We will definitely be visiting again !!!!
Just come back from this site. Very peaceful, very clean and Vicki was very helpful and friendly. The hen eggs were great and hope we can visit again soon . Thank you Vicki.
Just got back from two nights at Acre Hill. Stunning views all around, brilliant for walking and exploring the local area, great eggs! Can’t really ask for any more! Will definitely be back again.
We much enjoyed our stay here and got a warm welcome from Vicky. Views from the site are great. It is very peaceful and surrounded by nature. From the caravan we watched lapwings and curlews. Whenever you do something you attract a small crowd of hens (and a duck) wanting to look at what is going on. Their eggs were great. Discuss your requirements with Vicky when you book because the pitches at the top of the site are rather close together and it would be hard to fit in an awning. Walks from the site are limited but there are lovely places to visit and walks to have in the surrounding area.
very peaceful plenty of room beautiful area for walking cycling and sitting in peace and tranquility
This was our first visit to this lovely CL but will certainly not be our last. Needed a spacious pitch to try out our new caravan and Vicki came up trumps giving us a huge pitch, with beautiful views and, as it turned out, glorious weather too. Vicki is charming and helpful and brings fresh laid eggs each day if we need them. The site is easy to find, well laid out with good basic facilities and close enough to all local attractions yet peaceful and clean. Thank you for a great stay Vicki, we can highly recommend.
Acre Hill is a working farm with a CL site maintained by Vicki. She was there to welcome us on arrival and we saw her a number of times during our stay. Prior to arrival she rang me to say that there may be a problem with roadworks on the advised route and offered an alternative. As it happens the road works were finished prior to our journey and she rang again to let us know. The directions on this website are spot on, We tow a 7.3m caravan and had no problems, therefore best to follow the instructions rather than sat nav. The site was very tidy and organised, with the grass cut and very scenic views. EHU and water close by. Vicki also sells fresh hen/duck eggs. Our pitch wasn’t quite level but i carry a couple of planks of wood rather than ramps which were all that was needed to level up. From here there is easy access to the Trough of Bowland, Clitheroe and surrounding area. would definitely recommend.
We stayed for the first weekend after lockdown on the overflow pitch outside the main caravan area, but it was perfect, qyiet and the free range chickens kept my daughters attention for hours, very clean, covid safe, reliable electric supply, very friendly owners, farm fresh eggs for sale. Plus only a short drive from settle or Clitheroe, we will be definitely going back one of our new favourites.
Lovely site , peaceful, spacious and relaxing . Fresh eggs where yummy ! Definitely return here plenty of public footpaths in the area , And close to lots of places to visit . Welcomes was nice and easy to book 😊
This is our second visit to this quiet , relaxing site, set on a working farm but very quiet. Well maintained and clean, the free range eggs are amazing . Vicki is amazing and can’t do enough for you , we are regulars now and it’s only an hour away for us If you want a warm Lancashire welcome Acre Hill is the best
We have just spent a lovely 5 days in our motorhome at this peaceful site. It is set in picturesque surroundings, in the quiet countryside. The site is extremely well kept, clean and tidy, with well thought out pitches. Vikki is lovely, very friendly and helpful. The gardens are pretty, and the fresh, free range eggs are delicious. The chickens wander in and out, following you around, curious about what you are doing. Although the title is Acre Hill Farm, the only animals are the chickens and ducks, and the driveway leads directly to the site gate, so no driving through mud etc. There are 5 caravan pitches and 2 motorhome pitches. We are definitely going again as it is an easy drive from home and perfect for a mini break.
This is truly a quiet peaceful site, with the exception of the odd tractor, it’s a working farm. The site is extremely well kept and I’ve never seen bins emptied as often ! Level pitches some of different sizes to cater for different outfits, so would be advantageous to mention the size when you book, but you have a view from every pitch of rolling hills. Warm welcome and felt relaxed as soon as we drove through the gate. Short drive to Clitheroe, who knew they had a castle! great shops and market day on Saturday. Great site we will return. Couple of things to note, please follow the instructions and go through Sawley, otherwise you will be doing the AA rally! Also there is practically no mobile or internet signal, but I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing…….
A great little site to stay at to charge the batteries and walk the dogs. A very nice garden centre just down the road for a look round and an ice cream. Vicki was very helpful and welcoming. Would recommend for a short break.
Myself and some friends stayed on this site last year. Vicky was so lovely and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The site is a lovely small site and has beautiful views. Nothing was too much trouble for the site owners. The amenities are all close by. There are some great little places to visit close by. You won’t be disappointed. We’re due to go again shortly, we can’t wait. It’s definitely one of our favourite sites and we’ve been to loads. 5 stars all around x
