Just stayed at acre hill lodge for 3 nights. Lovely place to stay, very quiet and peaceful. Was spotlessly clean on arrival, had everything we needed. Surrounded by fields and animals. Added bonus could take all 3 of my dogs who also loved their first holiday!
Great little getaway before Christmas madness starts
They loved time in the enclosed garden and also seeing the chickens, ducks and cows. Ella my older lab (12yr old) has thrived from being away
We didn’t want to leave and will hopefully be back next year too!
Vicki was great, checked in with us to make sure everything was fine
On arrival we had Prosecco, mince pies, milk, fresh eggs and even treats for the dogs. Also had a welcome drawing from the owners daughter (I did take it home too) 😊
Big thank you from myself, mum, Ella, Bobbie and Marty 🐾
We had a lovely stay on the campsite over the Bank Holiday weekend. Location was beautiful, directions to get there were really helpful, particularly with a 7m motorhome and which lanes are particularly narrow, etc. Arrived with no issues, topped up the water and parked up on our pitch.
Site is well maintained, clean and tidy and the views are stunning. Vicki came over and introduced herself and was very friendly and chatty.
We walked on both days from the site – towards Bolton-by-Bowland one day and then towards Slaidburn the following day. Lanes are quiet and the villages lovely – good pub and teashops for food/drinks.
It was all so peaceful and relaxing, we’ll no doubt be back for another weekend in the future.
What a fantastic cottage. had an amazing stay, a lovely welcome of a bottle of prosecco, cookies, milk and fresh eggs. excellent facilities. extremely comfy bed and stunning views, would definitely stay again Thank you Vicky for a lovely stay.

Thank you for our lovely stay on your peaceful caravan site. Our pitch was situated in a beautiful location overlooking the highland cows. We enjoyed our daily visits from the friendly hen, duck and her ducklings! We will definitely be revisiting in the future.
Our first visit to this area and to The Lodge with our two dogs. The area is simply stunning so much that we spent the whole week just stunned by the beauty on every drive or walk. At the Lodge you really see all farm life with daily visits by chickens, ducks, cats and not forgetting watching the lovely cows opposite. We saw hares in the fields, curlews playing games in the sky and we were lucky enough to see deer down by the brook. The Lodge is lovely and comfortable with amazing views. There is so much to do in the area .. a week isn’t really long enough so I’m sure we will be back.
We spent a few days in October 2024 on the CL and really enjoyed our stay.
The site is well looked after and Vicky was most welcoming
There was a lot to do in and around Clitheroe that would keep you busy for a few days
We spent a week at the Acre Hill caravan/motorhome site a week ago. Vicki & Phil gave us a very warm welcome and what a lovely site. The views are beautiful and the site is very well situated for walking both at lower and higher level in Bowland. The site is very well maintained and Vicki was keen to ensure that we had a good stay. Highly recommended.
We have just had a week in the fantastic lodge at Acre Hill. We keep returning to the farm as we love the area. There’s so much to see and do. Right now the curlews, oyster catchers, skylarks and lapwings are very active. Our dogs were very excited to see the hares too.
The lodge is so comfortable, clean, warm fresh – with modern decor and furnishings so unlike some holiday rentals. Vicki and Phil work hard to maintain everything looking so good and are very helpful. This is our 3rd visit to Acre hill and it won’t be our last as we’ve booked to return in September. Ian, Chris and the Greys.
Just spent a wonderful four nights away in our motorhome at Acre Hill, what a beautiful peaceful site with fantastic scenery and great walks from the doorstep. Vicky and Phil are very welcoming hosts and the fresh eggs a great bonus to the stay. Looking forward to returning. Thank you,
Carolyn and Stewart
We’ve just had a four night stay in our caravan over the Easter weekend. Vicki had contacted us the week before to warn us that the site was particularly wet, however on arrival we found that there was sufficient hard standing for the caravan, awning and car, with plenty of room for manoeuvring.
The site is very quiet and peaceful and is ideally suited for easy access to the local area. Vicki welcomed us and was available for any queries. The fresh eggs are marvellous!

Acre Hill is a little gem, located in a very peaceful area, with beautiful views. Being on a working farm, its a treat to see the very friendly hens and ducks wandering round the site every day and you are able to buy the eggs for breakfast! We loved it here on the CL and had a very friendly welcome from Vicki on arrival. We will certainly be back!
We have enjoyed a three night break at Acre Hill cottage with our dog Pablo.
After a very busy Christmas and getting married on NYE our break couldn’t have been more perfect.
From arriving we had fresh milk, eggs, yummy biscuits for us and the dog and a very thoughtful bottle of fizz.
The cottage is super cute and cosy the kitchen is well equipped and my husband myself and the dog felt right at home with the log burner roaring away.
We had amazing local walks and we especially liked the cakes down at the local garden centre.
We can’t wait to come back we have had the best time on our mini moon x
Many thanks ❤️
Felt like home as soon as we walked in, had everything we needed, was welcomed with fresh eggs, milk, bottle of prosecco, biscuits, and even my dog got treats was a nice touch. The cottage itself is beautiful and clean with lovely stylish decor , bed was soo comfortable had the best nights sleep, its such a nice peaceful place to spend family time in and an nice patio area with a bbq and a firepit that we enjoyed sitting and chilling in. You literally don’t need to take anything other than the food you want because there is everything you need there even a hairdryer. The couple Vicki and Phil are absolutely lovely people made us feel welcome. Thank you.
The cottage feels like home as soon as you step inside. It’s very well equipped with everything you need the decor is stylish and of the highest quality. We enjoyed lazy days on the comfy sofa in front of the fabulous log burner. There are amazing views from the secure back garden and also some great walks from the door and a short drive away from lots of interesting towns and villages. Thankyou so much for a lovely warm welcome and all the lovely welcome pack you left us on our arrival . And giving us this opertunity to stay in your beautiful cottage, we hope to be back soon Thankyou

- We have just had a 2 week stay at this lovely caravan site in the forest of bowland .The scenery is stunning . There are duck eggs and hen eggs for sale . Vicki is very friendly and very helpful . It is a very relaxing caravan site We hope to visit again soon Keith and kath
How lovely to get to the warm and cosy cottage and find a welcome pack for our and our dogs arrival !! Nothing was too much trouble for Vicki and her husband..beautiful views , quiet location and the weather gods were kind to us 😁 fresh eggs at the door step laid courtesy of the farm hens. Our two dogs loved it and we were close enough to local town just 10 mins in car to Clitheroe … thanks again and hope to see you next year 👍
We have just returned from an Easter break at acre hill cottage . What a wonderful place. It’s tranquil and peaceful. Only 1 bedroom for a family of 4 but our girls slept on the sofa bed and said it was very comfortable. The views are amazing and sitting in the garden early morning with a coffee and listening to just the birds with no other noise around I found very relaxing . We met one of the owners and she was very attentive and helpful . On our arrival we had unexpected welcome treats including milk , eggs , Prosecco, biscuits and even a little bag of dog treats which my golden retriever thoroughly enjoyed . The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for your stay and the owners have thought of everything. On an evening we would all cuddle up in front of the log burner after some very long and breathtaking walks in the area. I would highly recommend acre hill .. Thank you
- Booked a last minute weekend away for a rest with added bonus of a real fire.
2 adults, teenager and a dog.
Beautiful cottage with everything and more you could want. Welcome card with milk eggs Prosecco biscuits for us and dog lovely touch. They have thought of everything Coffee tea sugar cleaning stuff even tinfoil. I have never stayed in such a well stocked weekend rental. Home from home. It was Spotlessly clean and bedding smelt beautiful. Sofa is soo comfy and wood burner fantastic. Views from garden amazing lovely walks nice garden centre and pub only couple miles walk away from cottage and both allow dogs. Owner was extremely helpfully and very friendly. 100% recommend will stay again. Thank you we had a fantastic break.
Lovely little home from home .
As others have said ,Vicki very attentive, and we loved the special touches in the welcome pack .
Very cosy , warm ,deceptively spacious cottage , so quiet ,you can do as much or as little as you wish in the area , a trip to
Pendle Hill for us , though we didn’t climb it !
The garden was ideal for us and our dogs , however it rained after the first day so we made the most of the logburner and Netflix!
Full size fridge and freezer for all our supplies so we were set .
Lovely lunch at the garden centre down the road , dog friendly as was the Spread Eagle pub ,where we had some nice pub grub .
Clitheroe had some interesting shops and nice for an amble , especially in better weather .
Would definitely come again , hopefully the weather more clement for us to make more of the garden and surrounding countryside
What a excellent stay we have just had up at Acre hill cottage.
Upon our arrival Vicki &Phil made us feel most welcome.
The cottage was nicely decorated to a high spek & spotlessly clean , good quality furnishings throughout with fresh towels and bedding and everything you need to hand .
The welcome pack that was left for us was a added suprise with fresh eggs, pressecco and treats for the dog to.
The decked garden to the rear was lovley a great place to sit out and relax and take in the gorgeous views across the fells ,it was contained and great for dogs to keep them safe in.
We will deffinatly be back ,and we can highly recommend. for a place to stay.
What a fantastic find!
We had a lovely weekend away, the cottage is immaculate and the hosts extremely helpful and friendly. Loads to do in the area, we can’t wait to come back again.
The cottage is beautiful and a lovely break away from everything. It’s remote but not too far to anything you need by car. Even with a 3 year old we were easily entertained and occupied the entire week. We love getting away from it all, phone signal included. So massive thumbs up. Will definitely use as a break again.
Absolutely loved our stay at Acre hill cottage, its in a beautiful location, very peaceful and extremely clean. Vicky the owner is very warm and welcoming and always on site if you require any help. On arrival there was even fresh milk and eggs, a bottle of prosecco and some treats for the dog! I will definitely be returning this this cottage!
What a fabulous find! My husband and I came here with our 2 dogs to avoid the fireworks. Peaceful location, cozy, comfortable, clean cottage with everything needed. Super friendly hosts. We’ve already booked to come back in 2023.
What a fabulous find! My husband and I came here with our 2 dogs to avoid the fireworks. Peaceful location, cozy, comfortable, clean cottage with everything needed. Super friendly hosts. We’ve already booked to come back in 2023.
Lovely cottage, excellent facilities, friendly owner, nice welcome package for me and the dogs! Beautiful setting
Lovely barn conversation, tastefully decorated, in a beautiful rural location with views across the fields and starry nights. Host was discrete but helpful as next door in the main farmhouse with fabulous free range eggs part of a much-appreciated welcome pack.
Although rural, there are a few pubs within a short drive and a lovely cafe at the garden centre down the road in Holden. It is an intimate space as the bathroom is partitioned off (stopping short of the ceiling!) within the open plan lounge/kitchen space. Although a ground floor property there are two high steps – one into the bedroom and the shower cubicle is on a raised platform, with a very high step and small standing area in front of the shower.
We would be happy to return as it was a cosy base to relax in with good wifi, views and lots to explore in the area.
Can’t say enough positive things about this lovely cottage and the location. Everything was just perfect and the hosts were simply lovely.
The cottage was superb. Extremely well equipped, decorated to a high spec, super comfortable sofa and bed and the enclosed garden was great for our dog to enjoy lots of outdoor time. We will definitely be returning and can’t recommend this holiday cottage enough.
Overall, a fantastic cottage, gorgeous dog friendly places to visit and eat, and a beautiful part of England that must be experienced. Thank you for a wonderful week!!
We’ve had another brilliant holiday at Acre Hill cottage. Relaxing on the deck in the sun or by the fire pit, cooking ace meals on the BBQ. Walking, wildlife, pubs – what’s not to like? And the hosts are everything that a guest needs. Thank you, we’ll return soon
This is a really beautiful cottage located on a farm near Pendle, the interior is very clean, modern and comfortable and has good amenities.
It has French doors in the bedroom which leads out onto a decked seating area with a nice enclosed garden over looking the countryside, which was ideal for our small dog. The views around the cottage are also lovely and it is very peaceful.
Our hosts were very friendly and called round to see if everything was ok and brought us some fresh milk, eggs and biscuits. we would definately come here again as it has lots of walks, picturesque villages nearby and the locals are kind and welcoming.
Perfect cottage with lovely and helpful hosts . We had a very relaxing break Thankyou
What a fabulous cottage! We adored the location, in the heart of a beautiful area with stunning views just off a very quiet lane. So many wonderful walks locally especially in the beautiful Ribble Valley. Mornings and early evenings were spent in the sun trap of a garden. Bed and sofa were super comfortable and owners are on hand to help with anything. A really relaxing, comfortable, get away from it all holiday that is good for the soul. Highly recommend.
Beautiful set up in idyllic countryside. Gorgeous view when waking up. Found a new favourite place to holiday!
Idyllic cottage, beautifully presented, clean and fresh with everything you need. Bed and sofa super comfy. The setting is tranquil and good for the soul (although with easy access to amenities). Owners very helpful and on hand when required. Lots of walks from the doorstep – our little dog loved the garden and our different walks each day. Would not hesitate to return.
We’ve just got back from a week at Acre Hill and we will definitely be going back! The most relaxing week we’ve had for quite a while! 😊 Such a very peaceful site and Vicki is so friendly we felt very welcome. The free range hens were very entertaining and the fresh eggs every day were delicious, we brought some back home with us too, you have to try the duck eggs! 😋 🥚 Our dog was intrigued by the hens and ducks but was happy to watch them, he even shared his water bowl 😂🐓 A great place if you want to switch off and do nothing! Thank you Vicki, we will be back!
What a fabulous little set up. We had a lovely welcome from Vicki. On arrival we had a bottle of fiz and dog treats waiting for us. We had a lovely few days in the cottage. Cozy nights in front of the log burner. The cottage had everything you could want. Cottage is in a great location, lovely views and some great local walks which our two dogs thoroughly enjoyed. Our dogs settled into the cottage from day one. Cottage is conveniently located for Clitheroe and Skipton. Would certainly recommend and will be returning.
A fantastic bolt hole, very cozy and warm. The kitchen is very well equipped with a hob, an oven, a microwave, and a fridge freezer. There are plenty of pots and pans too. We made use of the decked area and the bbq. We walked to Sawley (The spread eagle) using the bridleway and The Coach and horses in Bolton by Bowland. There is also the shepherds hut at the plant nursery – about 30 minutes walk. The landscape and the scenery are fabulous and we were rewarded with great views and lots of spring wildlife. From hares to lapwings. We will return.
Fantastic stay in a modern, well-equipped cottage! Will recommend to friends, and hope to be back in the near future!
A truly stunning CL From the minute you arrive you feel the peace and tranquility of the place. The views across the countryside are amazing and the only man mad noise is the occasional farmer going about his day. We have had wonderful chats with the chickens as they peck their way through the site. The site is very well maintained with all the facilities you would expect at a CL. This place has been added to my shortlist of favourites and we will be regular visitors.
We stayed 2 nights at Acre Hill. The views from the site are stunning and can be seen from all the pitches. It is a wonderful place to hide from the rest of the world and relax. 2 friendly cats to say hello to. Chickens and ducks to watch as they potter about in the next field. Free-range eggs to buy. No WC/shower, but electric hookup near all pitches and one water tap at the corner of the site. Therefore it had everything we needed. Space near tap for a motorhome to park so you can refill easily. All pitches hard standing, Some pitches on a slight slope so leveling blocks needed. The only down side is it is in the middle of no-where so you need to hike, cycle or drive to nearby villages etc….. (this is why I have only given it a 4 for local places of interest), however the plus side is that it is in the middle of no-where so it is quiet, peaceful and relaxing. It is a wonderful part of the world to visit with the surrounding country side nothing more than outstanding. Who needs to go to the lakes when a place like this is nearer and less populated?!
We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely little CL for two nights in June whilst travelling. The site is very pretty with flowers arranged in pots and well kept. The surrounding views are amazing. We had a very warm welcome from Vicky making sure we was happy and letting us know about the eggs which are available (chicken & duck). All pitches have hard standing with EHU the water and waste disposal are close by. Would definitely recommend and look forward to staying for longer next time.
A level, well kept site with hard standings and great views, in a lovely part of the country. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. It’s part of a working farm so there is a bit of noise from farm machinery during working hours otherwise it is extremely peaceful. We stayed for five nights and thoroughly ourselves.
We’ve just spent 4 nights at this little gem of a CL. The lane accessing the site is somewhat narrow but easily manageable with care. Absolutely amazing views from your caravan. This is an unbelievably beautiful area of our country. Vicki (the owner) is friendly and helpful. As this is a working farm there are free range chickens and ducks running around. The benefit of this is that the eggs are available to purchase at a reasonable price. We will definitely be visiting again !!!!
Just come back from this site. Very peaceful, very clean and Vicki was very helpful and friendly. The hen eggs were great and hope we can visit again soon . Thank you Vicki.
Just got back from two nights at Acre Hill. Stunning views all around, brilliant for walking and exploring the local area, great eggs! Can’t really ask for any more! Will definitely be back again.
We much enjoyed our stay here and got a warm welcome from Vicky. Views from the site are great. It is very peaceful and surrounded by nature. From the caravan we watched lapwings and curlews. Whenever you do something you attract a small crowd of hens (and a duck) wanting to look at what is going on. Their eggs were great. Discuss your requirements with Vicky when you book because the pitches at the top of the site are rather close together and it would be hard to fit in an awning. Walks from the site are limited but there are lovely places to visit and walks to have in the surrounding area.
very peaceful plenty of room beautiful area for walking cycling and sitting in peace and tranquility
This was our first visit to this lovely CL but will certainly not be our last. Needed a spacious pitch to try out our new caravan and Vicki came up trumps giving us a huge pitch, with beautiful views and, as it turned out, glorious weather too. Vicki is charming and helpful and brings fresh laid eggs each day if we need them. The site is easy to find, well laid out with good basic facilities and close enough to all local attractions yet peaceful and clean. Thank you for a great stay Vicki, we can highly recommend.
Acre Hill is a working farm with a CL site maintained by Vicki. She was there to welcome us on arrival and we saw her a number of times during our stay. Prior to arrival she rang me to say that there may be a problem with roadworks on the advised route and offered an alternative. As it happens the road works were finished prior to our journey and she rang again to let us know. The directions on this website are spot on, We tow a 7.3m caravan and had no problems, therefore best to follow the instructions rather than sat nav. The site was very tidy and organised, with the grass cut and very scenic views. EHU and water close by. Vicki also sells fresh hen/duck eggs. Our pitch wasn’t quite level but i carry a couple of planks of wood rather than ramps which were all that was needed to level up. From here there is easy access to the Trough of Bowland, Clitheroe and surrounding area. would definitely recommend.
We stayed for the first weekend after lockdown on the overflow pitch outside the main caravan area, but it was perfect, qyiet and the free range chickens kept my daughters attention for hours, very clean, covid safe, reliable electric supply, very friendly owners, farm fresh eggs for sale. Plus only a short drive from settle or Clitheroe, we will be definitely going back one of our new favourites.
Lovely site , peaceful, spacious and relaxing . Fresh eggs where yummy ! Definitely return here plenty of public footpaths in the area , And close to lots of places to visit . Welcomes was nice and easy to book 😊
This is our second visit to this quiet , relaxing site, set on a working farm but very quiet. Well maintained and clean, the free range eggs are amazing . Vicki is amazing and can’t do enough for you , we are regulars now and it’s only an hour away for us If you want a warm Lancashire welcome Acre Hill is the best
We have just spent a lovely 5 days in our motorhome at this peaceful site. It is set in picturesque surroundings, in the quiet countryside. The site is extremely well kept, clean and tidy, with well thought out pitches. Vikki is lovely, very friendly and helpful. The gardens are pretty, and the fresh, free range eggs are delicious. The chickens wander in and out, following you around, curious about what you are doing. Although the title is Acre Hill Farm, the only animals are the chickens and ducks, and the driveway leads directly to the site gate, so no driving through mud etc. There are 5 caravan pitches and 2 motorhome pitches. We are definitely going again as it is an easy drive from home and perfect for a mini break.
This is truly a quiet peaceful site, with the exception of the odd tractor, it’s a working farm. The site is extremely well kept and I’ve never seen bins emptied as often ! Level pitches some of different sizes to cater for different outfits, so would be advantageous to mention the size when you book, but you have a view from every pitch of rolling hills. Warm welcome and felt relaxed as soon as we drove through the gate. Short drive to Clitheroe, who knew they had a castle! great shops and market day on Saturday. Great site we will return. Couple of things to note, please follow the instructions and go through Sawley, otherwise you will be doing the AA rally! Also there is practically no mobile or internet signal, but I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing…….
A great little site to stay at to charge the batteries and walk the dogs. A very nice garden centre just down the road for a look round and an ice cream. Vicki was very helpful and welcoming. Would recommend for a short break.
Myself and some friends stayed on this site last year. Vicky was so lovely and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The site is a lovely small site and has beautiful views. Nothing was too much trouble for the site owners. The amenities are all close by. There are some great little places to visit close by. You won’t be disappointed. We’re due to go again shortly, we can’t wait. It’s definitely one of our favourite sites and we’ve been to loads. 5 stars all around x
